Ligo Celebrations June 23 – 24th, 2018

UPDATE:

Hello all, Līgo/Jāni is almost here! Please send an rsvp to our email by Thursday night if you plan on attending.  We would like to know who is coming and how many are attending (as this helps us plan for supper) and if you need a camping spot for tent or motorhome. Camping spots are limited!! 

This year we have booked a facility approximately 43 km NE of Edmonton – Partridge Hill Community Hall, 22002 Township Road 542, Fort Saskatchewan, AB. located on the corner of RR 220 and Twp. Road 542 (Strathcona County) south-east of Ft. Saskatchewan (just west of Hwy. 830). Link below for map. Guests can arrive any time after 2 pm.  There will be activities such as wreath making (we will have some flowers but more would always be appreciated, as would oak leaves!).  Latvian Jānu cheese will be made and plenty of other activities for both young and old. There will be a raffle and a ‘piragi contest’ (please bring your best if you would like to participate!).  Supper is planned for around 5 pm. Imanta will provide  the main course – pork, sauerkraut, rye bread, potato salad, water, juice, coffee, tea. Anything else (eg. appetizers, desserts or snacks) is as usual – potluck style. If you decide to bring a dessert this year, we are requesting that it be in keeping with Ligo tradition and preferably  homemade.   Remember to bring sun screen and insect repellent. Admission will be $5 per person, children under 10 are free.  Please drive safely and responsibly. Don’t drink and drive.

NEW THIS YEAR:  Overnight camping is allowed – tents, trailers or motorhomes at a cost of $10 per unit. There is only rustic camping – no hookups, etc. Please RSVP if you would like to camp overnight. All overnight campers will have to register upon arrival and will be given a permit to camp. All campers must vacate by 6 pm, Sunday June 24th.
