The Edmonton Latvian Society IMANTA will be celebrating the 98th anniversary of           Latvian independence on Saturday,  November 19th,  2016 at St. John’s Cultural Centre,       10611 – 110 Ave NW in Edmonton.

The men’s choir “Sing for Life ‘will perform. We  will  have the same delicious food and same great dance music as last year!

Doors 5pm/ Programme 5:30pm with dinner to follow/ Dancing until late.

$45 member / $50 non-member / children 6-14 yrs $10 / Under 6 no charge

Tickets for the  November 19th event must be ordered in advance and will be mailed out if there is time.  Please RSVP by November 14th, 2016. 



The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra will feature a  guest artist from Latvia in concert on November 17th at 8pm and also on November 18th at 9:30 pm.

Ksenija Sidorova is a master of the accordion like you’ve not seen before. ( She has performed across Europe, in the USA and in Vancouver. Friday’s concert will continue after the performance with drinks and more entertainment in the lobby.

Tickets for both evenings are available starting at $24. (

Did you know? Students of all ages, seniors over 65, and anyone age 25 and under   can buy two tickets to any symphony concert, $24 each, two hours before the performance with valid photo ID. It’s a great way to spend a winter evening!


In response to several requests, we started offering Latvian language classes for adults in October. It’s not too late to join! We need your interest, support and feedback  to make this program happen.  Contact the instructor via  or text Egons at 780-710-2946.

Our children’s group still meets monthly at the Laurier Heights Community Hall with crafts and games for children and their parents. The organizers work hard to come up with new ideas and activities. We encourage all parents of young children to become more involved – this is a great way to build community and have your children involved.
