Casino Volunteers Needed For January at the Yellowhead Casino

We’re using SignUp.com (the leading online SignUp and reminder tool) to organize volunteers for our upcoming casino on January 19 & 20, 2020.  The Yellowhead Casino is located at 12464 153 St NW in Edmonton. There are day shifts and evening shifts available. No experience necessary! All volunteers will get a free meal!

Our involvement in AGLC casinos helps us to keep running our scholarship and seniors programs.  Without the funding that AGLC distributes to us, we would not be able to keep these programs going.

 

New season for our Children’s Group

Our learning season has resumed! Join us for family fun and a little Latvian culture! Meet other Latvian families in Edmonton. Our Latvian children’s group is once again ready  to make this a great year for learning the Latvian language, enjoying a great time with Latvian friends, learning interesting things about Latvia and learning some Latvian dances.  The IMANTA Children’s Group now meets twice per month, on Sundays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Laurier Heights Community Hall, 14405 85 Ave, NW Edmonton, AB

Baltic Way celebrates 30th Anniversary

The Baltic Way was a peaceful political demonstration which took place on 23 August 1989 when approximately two million people joined their hands forming a 600 km long human chain through the Baltic countries, thus demonstrating their unity in their efforts towards freedom.

This year our Ligo festivities will be held on June 22 at the Edmonton Oilfield Technical Society Park located at 2104 156 St SW Edmonton.   More information to follow at a later date. Keep updated about new notifications to our website by adding your email  to follow this blog. Scroll to the bottom of the website page and fill in your email address to be notified whenever a new post is posted.

The Edmonton Oilfield Technical Society Park is located in south Edmonton. For the Best Access to the Park, use Anthony Henday to the Rabbit Hill Road Overpass. Then proceed South to Ellerslie Road and continue South on Rabbit Hill Road until the first left exit.  Follow the exit to 156 Street –  which deadends at the Park.

Latvian Consular Services in Edmonton 2019

A Consular Agent from the Latvian Embassy in Ottawa will be in Edmonton on Thursday, March 14th for passport & citizenship services.

Anyone interested in applying for LV citizenship, or applying for and/or renewing their LV passport, must register in advance with the Latvian Embassy in Ottawa at  consulate.canada@mfa.gov.lv

Appointments for other consular services on this day should also be made in advance with the Latvian Embassy.  Coffee, tea and snacks will be available.

Address: Canadian Lithuanian Society of Edmonton, 11629 – 83 Street NW. This is located west of Edmonton Northlands and south of 118 Ave, on the north side of the river.
